Melissa who?
Enter into the 1930s residence of British naturalist, Melissa Evelin*. A celebrated explorer of her time, this seaside house was her weekend escape and favourite spot in Singapore, where she worked in the spice plantation business.
She raised a farm with chickens and bees, experimented with local fermentation, and was famous for throwing dinner parties for the Changi V neighborhood.
However in September 1932, she mysteriously disappeared while exploring the nearby mangroves of Pulau Ubin, and was never heard from again.
Her house was shuttered, possessions left intact, and forgotten for 90 years until in 2024, a conservation project uncovered the colonial property hidden away in Netheravon Road.

House of Melissa is run by the award-winning Sundowner Nature Experience Centre, and at Changi you can do any of the experiences already offered at Siglap, including our best-selling Pizza-Making Experience and Honeybee Encounter.

With our location on the Ubin straits, we offer private boat tours around the maritime neighbourhood. Glide over water on a real sailboat to explore the kelongs and stories of Changi and Ubin!
Or embark on an adventurous kayak expedition either to Ubin or the nearby Changi Creek, where you can do a mangrove clean-up.
We have lovingly restored this pre-war property to the pomp of its heyday, with all the trimmings a modern traveller expects. The boutique farmstay now provides the perfect backdrop for your corporate retreat, social gathering, or an unforgettable proposal / wedding event.
The House also boasts an outdoor movie projector system with a lawn that seats up to 30 pax for screenings or weddings. We can host 100 pax outdoors and 50 indoors.

![What is happening here? These bees absconded (abandoned their old nest) an hour earlier, and have come back to harvest their comb, which they will reuse at their new nesting site! Building honeycomb is resource heavy, so this saves a lot of effort.
Not all the bees we rescue stay with us. The comb may have gotten damaged during the process (like this one which broke), or the bees simply may not like their new location.
So they abscond to find a more suitable place. The important thing is that they were not killed, and after our rescue have another shot at establishing a strong colony again.
